GM expects a ‘big year’ for Chevrolet which will introduce 13 new or significantly updated models next year.
“A couple … will be complete surprises, which we’re thrilled about,” Mike Albano, head of Chevrolet communications, said during a media briefing Wednesday.
Chevrolet will introduce models such as the all-new 2014 Silverado pickup, Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, Silverado HD pickup, all-new 2014 Impala sedan, 2013 Cruze diesel, Spark battery-electric vehicle, refreshed 2013 Traverse SUV, 2013 Sonic RS, 2013 Equinox with a new V-6 and 2014 SS performance sedan.
Through September Chevrolet managed to sell 1.42 million vehicles in the U.S., an increase of 4.9% compared with the same period last year and up 11% globally, due to strong sales of the Cruze compact, Sonic subcompact and Spark mini car. Chevrolet recently launched the Malibu and dealers have already begun to receive the high-volume 2.5-liter Ecotec engine model.
The automaker expects sales of the all-new Malibu to increase spectacularly due to solid advertising during the NFL football games, NCAA basketball games and the Major League baseball playoff games. There is also a collection created by the famous fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, which includes 6 items, all inspired by the Malibu design.
