Chevrolet FNR Concept goes official in Shanghai image

The Chevrolet FNR Concept has made its world debut recently during the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show.

The newest model to wear the Chevrolet badges on its body is called the FNR and this is a concept car with a weird and futuristic design. The company says that this has been developed locally by GM’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center joint venture and it is basically an electric vehicle with an autonomous driving technology. The one-off car has a high-tech capsule design with crystal laser lighting units, a wireless charging system and the drangonfly dual swing doors.

“The Chevrolet-FNR is loaded with a range of intelligent technologies usually seen only in science fiction movies. They include sensors and roof-mounted radar that can map out the environment to enable driverless operation, Chevy Intelligent Assistant and iris recognition start. The Chevrolet-FNR can also serve as a “personal assistant” to map out the best route to the driver’s preferred destination”, says Chevy in the press release.

The new Chevrolet concept car has an iris recognition start system too, special front seats which can rotate 180 degrees, facing the rear seats when in full autonomous mode, and it is powered by hubless wheel electric motors. Drivers can switch back to manual mode through gestures which will enable the full control of the vehicle. Keep in mind that we are talking about a concept car and no production version is planned at this time. However, this will indeed be the future of motoring, sadly.
