The North American based automotive giant General Motors has recently announced that the Chevrolet Malibu sedan has been launched in China.
According to the car manufacturer, the Chevrolet Malibu sedan is currently being offered in five variants in china, with a choice of two engines and two transmissions, and the model will be offered at a price tag set between RMB162,900 and RMB229,900 which is translated into $25,851 and 36,483. Launching the mid-size sedan into China is part of GM’s strategy to attract more customers to its brands worldwide which will eventually lead to record sales for this year.
“It will play an important role expanding GM’s presence in the upper-medium passenger car segment”, said the GM China Group president and managing director, Levin Wale.
General Motors says that the Chinese Chevrolet Malibu will come with a choice of two engines, the 2.4 liter SIDI which is developing a total output of 137 kW and it has a peak torque of 240 Nm and the 2.0 liter DT, which is offering a fuel economy of 8.0 liters every 100 km in an average cycle. More details on the Chevrolet Malibu in China will be announced in the following days, but one thing is for sure, the starting price of the model will be set at RMB162,900.
