Chevrolet Spark EV officially announced for L.A. Auto Show image

The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced its plans to unveil the Spark EV during the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show later on this month.

Chevrolet said a year ago that the final production version of the Spark EV will be officially presented to the public this year and it seems that the company is keeping its word because an official statement is claiming that the model in question will make its public debut on the 28th of November, 2012, during the Los Angeles Auto Show.

“We have several exciting things planned. Our major news for the L.A. Auto Show is for Chevrolet and it will serve as the global introduction for the Spark EV. It is the first all-electric vehicle for Chevrolet so we’re excited about that. We’ll also a number of auto show introductions and a number of consumer-oriented activities. The primary news for us is the global debut of the Spark EV”, said the GM Group Manager of Global Design for the U.S. Auto Shows, David Barnas.

The Chevrolet Spark EV will be powered by a lithium-ion battery made by A123 Systems and by an electric motor which will produce up to 114 horsepower. The total range provided in normal conditions will be 81 miles. The Spark EV will also get the regenerative braking technology and it will be the very first electric vehicle made by General Motors since the EV1 project was scrapped back in 2003. Additional details on the model will be announced at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show.
