The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced its plans to unveil the new SS next Friday, on the 15th of February, 2013.
According to the company’s U.S. vice president of performance vehicle, the 2014 Chevrolet SS will be officially presented to the public on the 15th of February, ahead of the Sprint Unlimited Race. The announcement has been made to journalists in Detroit and it was written by Automotive News.
“This is the first time that we’ve done this in decades, where we’re going to introduce a whole new model at a racetrack”, said Jim Campbell, the Chevy vice president of performance vehicles.
The Chevrolet SS will come with a V8 engine, possibly the 6.2 liter EcoTec3, which made its way under the hood of the brand new generations of the 2014 GMC Sierra and 2014 Chevrolet Colorado, which will send its power to the rear-wheel drive. The new Chevy SS will be based on the Holden VF Commodore and it will start production this year. Chevy might use an SS-based model for the NASCAR Cup Series but no details on this subject have been announced yet.
