Chevrolet showcases the 2017 Camaro ZL1, packing 640 hp image

The US automaker has officially taken the online wraps off the all new 2017 Camaro in ZL1 livery.

The model has been developed to “excel at everything,” and comes with a bold and aggressive stance thanks to a “flow-tie” grille, a bigger front splitter, and all-new hood now sporting a heat extractor. The high performance sports car has also been treated to a more menacing aerodynamic body kit that includes wider front fenders, beefy side skirts, and a large rear wing. Additionally, the Camaro ZL1 also packs as a standard feature custom 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with special Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires that were actually developed specifically for this model. Cockpit modifications have been more restrained and the designers opted for Recaro sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a bespoke shifter with suede upholstery. Other highlights include red contrast stitching and numerous ZL1 badges.

The ZL1’s heart and sold is represented by the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine that churns out around 640 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque – which can send the power to the wheels via the standard six-speed manual or an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission. Performance is enhanced via the use of the Magnetic Ride suspension, Brembo brakes, and traction is also enhanced using the electronic limited-slip differential. The Camaro ZL1 also boasts the Performance Traction Management system, a Driver Mode Selector, and a launch control function. Pricing details will be revealed closer to the dealership introduction, which is tipped for late this year in the US.
