The 2013 Texas State Fair has seen the introduction of two Chevrolet Silverado-based concept cars, the Silverado Volunteer Street Firefighter and the Silverado Black Ops.
The new Chevrolet Silverado Volunteer Street Firefighter is based on the Silverado Double Cab and this is coming with a two-tone exterior finish, chromed side steps, a light bar, a siren, chrome fire extinguishers, PA system, an axe, chrome plated accents in the cabin and large 22-inch alloy wheels. The model in question has been designed to pay tribute to first responders and it’s showing how it can be used “in action”.
Besides the firefighter concept, Chevrolet has also introduced the so-called Silverado Black Ops Concept, which is getting features like the lockable toolbox, the two gas masks, gloves, military first aid kit, folding shovel, tow hooks, LED spot lights, tow hooks, lower body armor, which is custom made, tubular side steps, extended fender flares and a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in off-road tires.
Chevrolet says that both concept cars, based on the Silverado, are powered by the same 5.3 liter V8 engine, which is good for 355 HP (265 kW) and it has a peak torque of 518 Nm (383 lb-ft). The unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the all-wheel drive system. No production plans have been announced for the two models.
