The Chevrolet Volt has been recently named the 2012 Best Eco Car in the United Kingdom by the British magazine Diesel Car.
After naming the Range Rover Evoque the 2012 Diesel Car of the Year in the United Kingdom, the guys at the British magazine Diesel Car have focused their attention towards the Chevrolet Volt, which has been awarded the 2012 Best Eco Car in the UK.
“Just once in a while, history is made with a new design of car. The Chevrolet Volt and its sister model, the Ampera, have opened up a world of new possibility for electric motoring, extending it to a far wider range of people than the distance limitations of a purely electric car allow”, said the magazine’s editor, Ian Robertson.
As a quick reminder, the Chevrolet Volt, which is also named the Opel Ampera or the Holden Volt, has been in production since December 2010, coming as a 2011 model year. The “green” vehicle is currently being assembled in Detroit, Michigan, US, and it’s being offered as a five-door hatchback, coming with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a single transmission. The Volt is 4,500 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,440 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,680 mm and a curb weight of 1,715 kg.
