The Kia Niro Concept has been brought to the United States recently where it has made its local debut during the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.
The new concept car represents a first look into a future production model, a crossover signed by Kia which will enter the B-Segment and it will fight models like the Nissan Juke, the Peugeot 2008, the Renault Captur, the Opel / Vauxhall Mokka, the Chevrolet Trax or the Ford EcoSport. The model in question has a 2+2 seating layout but the final production variant is believed to come with five seats and to drop the butterfly doors, seen on the concept, along with several other features.
The Kia Niro Concept stands at 4,185 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,556 mm in height, riding on a 2,590 mm long wheelbase. Power is being provided by a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine, which is producing 160 HP (118 kW), mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, powering the front wheels, along with a 45 HP (33 kW) electric motor, which is sending power to the rear-wheel drive. The Kia Niro Concept has made its public debut back in September 2013, during the Frankfurt Motor Show.
