Chicago Auto Show to bring Ford Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package image

The Wind City event will be packing some neat vehicle introductions and among them Ford will count on the 2017 Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package.

This is essentially a new version to be featured in the range in between the Explorer XLT and Explorer Limited, the 2017 Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package has received some minor design tweaks – for example we have Magnetic Gray accents on the grille, mirrors, and rear tailgate. The crossover has also gained Ebony Black body cladding, a roof rack, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a Magnetic Gray touch. There is also some pretty obvious “Explorer” badging on the hood in case anyone mistook the identity of the vehicle. The cabin features a more upscale styling as the company has fitted two-tone seats with Dark Earth Gray leather bolsters and Dark Earth Gray Miko suede inserts. Also present is Umber contrast stitching, some suede door inserts, and Explorer-branded floor mats. The XLT-moniker derivative means the model also packs such goodies as the SYNC 3 infotainment system, n Intelligent Access system with push-button start and a 10-way power driver’s seat.

Motivation is provided by the 3.5-liter V6 engine churning out 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque –mated to a six-speed automatic transmission the powertrain can be had with an optional all-wheel drive system as well. The pricing for the Explorer XLT Sport Appearance Package will be revealed closer to launch, which has been tipped for the summer.
