A seven-seat version of the Ford Edge has been officially presented to the public during the 2014th edition of the Guangzhou Motor Show, in China.
With the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show going on as we speak, carmakers are also focusing on their largest market out there, China, and with the debut of the Guangzhou Motor Show, most companies have officially presented to the Asian public new variants of their models. The newest one to be introduced in the country is a seven-seat version of the Ford Edge.
“Creating and producing the three-row Edge for China shows how carefully we are listening to our customers here. Our research indicates that premium SUV customers in China are looking for more space and comfort. By building on the global Ford Edge, we have been able to deliver that with this vehicle”, said the president of Ford Motor China, John Lawler.
The Ford Edge with its seven seats is adopting a familiar design but considering the fact that it has to accommodate an extra row of seats, it has received a longer wheelbase, which is highly appreciated in China. The model also has a new rear end and several other minor tweaks. It will be offered with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine once it will be launched next year but no pricing details have been announced yet.
