The second biggest US automaker, alongside its Chinese joint ventures managed a health run for the January month, enjoying a 53% surge in year-over year sales, reaching wholesales of 94,466 vehicles.
Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), Ford’s passenger car joint venture, delivered 70,038 vehicles in January, a surge of 62 % from the 43,269 units sold during the same period of 2013.
On the other hand, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford’s commercial vehicle enterprise in China, also recorded a major growth last month, selling 21,868 vehicles, up 28 % compared to the 17,136 units sold in the same time last year.
In 2013, Ford sold 935,813 vehicles in China, up 49 % from 2012 and made serious advances for the November and December months, when sales were up 47 % and 35% respectively.
According to data provided by IHS Automotive, Ford Focus was the best selling model nameplate in China in 2013 and for January it reached 36,385 cars, an 8% growth form last year.
