Chinese-made Skoda Rapid to be launched in April image

A Chinese version of the Skoda Rapid will be launched in April this year during the 2013 Shanghai Auto Expo.

The Skoda Rapid is already being produced in markets like India or Europe for quite some time but a Chinese version of the model is getting ready to make its public debut this year. According to the Czech based automaker, the Skoda Rapid made in China will be officially unveiled during the 2013 Shanghai Auto Expo in Aril. The model looks identical to its European brother except for some minor details. The biggest difference is the size of Chinese version, which stands at 4,501 mm long, compared to the European variant, which stands at 4,483 mm. The wheelbase is 1 mm longer.

The Chinese Skoda Rapid has also gained some weight on the way, approximately 20 kg more than the 1,140 kg of the European version. While the Skoda Rapid made in China sounds better than the one assembled on the Old Continent you should know that the materials used in the cabin are lower quality. Engine options in the model include the 89 BHP 1.5 liter and the 109 BHP 1.6 liter, along with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Pricing of the model will be set at approximately CNY 80,000.
