The French based automaker Citroen is planning to expand its lineup by introducing the DS1 model in 2013.
According to the German automotive journalists at autobild.de, Citroen is currently developing a new DS model and after the DS3, DS4 and the DS5, the French based car manufacturer is planning to expand its lineup with the “help” of the DS1. Autobild.de is also saying that the entry-level model in the segment will battle the popular Fiat 500 and it will be based on the future generation of the C1, measuring approximately 3.6 meters in length. Even if there’s no official word on the model, yet, the Citroen DS1 is expected to come with a unique front grille and an interior with high quality materials.
The upcoming Citroen DS1 is most likely to be powered by a variety of three-cylinder engines sourced from BMW and the petrol units are expected to have outputs of 68 to 100 PS, while the diesels will generate 70 PS. The German journalists at autobild.de are also saying that a GTi version might also make its way onto the market, with 128 horsepower (130 PS). The Citroen CS1 concept might be officially presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show, before the production version will be launched in 2013.
