Citroen has recently announced its plans to introduce the DS3 Regional Rally Car (RRC) for private drivers, which is eligible to participate in various competitions.
After it has enlighten us with the new DS3 Cabrio just earlier this week, the French based automaker is now entering a whole new segment with its upcoming creation, the DS3 RRC (Regional Rally Car). According to the car manufacturer, the model has been inspired by the WRC rally car and it can participate in various competitions, like the WRC-2, the ERC and the MERC.
“Continuing to develop its line-up of rally cars, Citroën Racing is proud to present the DS3 RRC. Faithfully derived from the DS3 WRC, the double World Rally Championship-winning car*, this version has been designed for private drivers and is suitable for use in a wide variety of competitions (WRC-2, ERC, MERC, etc.)”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
The Citroen DS3 RRC is getting a MacPherson suspension, reinforced body with welded multi-point roll cage and 18-inch tarmac / 17-inch gravel and snow wrapped in Michelin tires. Under the hood, the new model will get the 1.6 liter turbocharged direct injected with 30 mm booster flange, with a specific flywheel, which is developing a total output of 275 horsepower (205 kW) and a peak torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
