Featuring a “supercharged design” and aiming to deliver a “vibrant 4×4 concept”, Citroen and French pop group “HYPHEN HYPHEN” have partnered to produce the latest concept take on the new SpaceTourer.
PSA Peugeot Citroen and Toyota again teamed up (they have the successful Aygo, 108 and Cq1 minis) to deliver a set of three vehicles – this time at the other end of the spectrum in the large MPV class for the Traveller, Spacetourer and Proace models. The models have only been introduced a few months ago but Citroen has already opted to use a “supercharged design” take on its SpaceTourer in order to deliver a lively concept. The model has a slight Aircross air thanks to the over the top 19-inch alloys and plastic body cladding with orange accents while the rest of the body is also highlighted through the creative use of coloring. Citroen has opted to deliver the SpaceTourer Hyphen concept in a crossover cue so the SUV looks are supported also by the front and rear underbody protection and modified suspension that has resulted in a bigger ground clearance. The idea is pretty obvious – a younger, more adventurous audience is the main target here.
The cabin remains on the funky side as it uses a batch of similarly toned and striking colors while the atmosphere is enhanced by the addition of a massive glass roof. Under the hood sits a turbodiesel BlueHDi 150 engine fitted with start/stop technology and mated to a six-speed manual transmission that has been linked to an on-demand all-wheel drive system. The latter was the joint effort of the automaker and Automobiles Dangel and has been described as a system that delivers increased traction on rougher patches but has no impact on handling and the MPV’s original performances.
