Citroen opened the doors of its first Citroën DS Store, in Jiangsu’s capital of Nanjing.
The opening of the store marks the first step in the company’s plan to establish an independent sales network in China for its DS product range. The store covers 18,000 sq. m. and is the first of the total of 25 to be opened by the end of this year. Nine other stores, which are located in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Hefei and Guangzhou, will be opened within a month. For the first batch of stores the JV will cooperate with authorized dealers.
The joint-venture aims at opening 80 DS stores in 55 Chinese cities, by the end of 2013, 150 by the end of 2014 and 200 by the end of 2015. The stores will be situated next to other luxury brand dealerships. This year the Citroën DS series will make its debut in China with imported models, and domestic production of the DS line in expected to begin in 2013.
In 2011 the luxury automobiles market in China grew 30%, and JV CEO Eric Apode believes that it will continue to increase since customers begin to search for more individuality in their purchases, exactly what DS will offer.
