NASA has recently uncovered seven new Earth-like exoplanets orbiting a single dwarf star – so we may be looking to set up camp in the “vicinity” sometimes. But before that happens, here’s another reason to get excited for.
We’re talking about the eBay find of the week – a great looking 1968 Mazda Cosmo 110 S – on sale in the United Kingdom. It will set you back a hefty £99,995 and is available through Fast Classics, which seem to have maintained it in just left the factory-like condition. All is original – burnt orange exterior, bug-eye headlights, and silver hub caps. By the way, it’s also extremely rare – just 343 original examples of the Cosmo Series 1 were made new in 1967 – and this particular unit is part of the “Series Middle” production run that included a Series 1 short wheelbase chassis and running gear, but with updated elements from the Series II.
Sitting under the hood is the original 1.0-liter equivalent twin-rotary engine, packing no less than 110 horsepower (82 kilowatts) – and that was in 1968. There’s also a four-speed manual gearbox and the odometer has only clocked a total mileage of 33,722 miles (54,270 kilometers) since new. Moving inside we see the original two-tone black vinyl and houndstooth seats, black vinyl dash, and a refurbished Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel, as well as working toggles, switches, and accessories – from the windshield wipers to the Pioneer radio speakers on the parcel shelf.
