We all love a great classic Porsche – such as this 935 model – but the package gets even better because the sale includes a matching VW transport van.
A classic Porsche race car, the 935 will become available at the upcoming Bonham’s Spa Classic Sale, alongside with the quirky awesome transport van that goes with it everywhere. This Martini-liveried Porsche 935 and its matching VW T2 transport van will go under the hammer on May 21, 2017, with estimates placing the duet for anywhere from $350,000 to $440,000 – with the Porsche having its original chassis number, 9306700478, as well as a fair bit of history to go along.
It was built on a limited series of customer cars for the 1977 racing season, with the Porsche taking the victory at the Hockenheim piloted by famous Porsche enthusiast Kremer of Cologne, Germany. The car’s second owner, Edgar Doren, raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans multiple times with a class win in 1988. The 935 retains its original 2.8-liter engine, with up to 315 horsepower (234 kilowatts) when new – and also original are the factory lightweight body panels and aerodynamics, with light restorations done throughout the years. The T2 transport van, meanwhile, only had three races under its belt, and the duo formed in 2006 when a professor named Michael Rudnig bought both for historic races.
