The Indian-manufactured small hatchback acts as the entry-level model for Ford in Europe, but that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of personality – as the new Color Edition clearly shows.
Every time Ford turns up a new hue or customization project for colors most of us will refer to the famous Henry Ford 1909 quote that allowed company customers to get the legendary Model T in “any color so long as it is black,” and here it goes, we made our reference. Now moving to the “Color Edition,” the new limited Ka+ version arrives with six other colors – Bright Yellow, Ruby Red, Smoke, Sparkling Gold, Moondust Silver, and Oxford White. The Henry Ford reference makes sense due to any of the chosen version sporting a wide range of black styling trim – for the front mesh grille, side decals, mirror caps, roof, fender badges, and the 15-inch alloys. There’s also a sense of sporty urban feeling thanks to the upgraded roof-mounted rear spoiler.
The Ka+ has been turned into a real five-seater – with five doors – for this latest iteration, and comes with enough space for five adults, Ford claiming to arrive with the top-level headroom and rear legroom in its segment – and will allow users to lose anything in the 21 stowage areas. In India it’s actually known as the Figo, but for Europe a raft of changes has been made to insure the customers tastes are fulfilled. For example it features a modified suspension, upgraded steering, new front anti-roll bar, revised rear torsion beam axle, and new engine mounts. The Color Edition is offered in conjunction with the naturally aspirated 1.2-liter Duratec four-cylinder gasoline engine with 85-horsepower, mated to a simple and affordable five-speed manual gearbox.
