The 2014th edition of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has opened its gates this weekend and the inautonews.com team was present at the event in order to bring you the latest updates.
An elegance competition for classic and vintage cars, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este (Competition of Elegance of Villa d’Este) is taking place every year since 1929, in the last weekend of April, on the shores of Lake Como, in Villa d’Este, Italy. Since 2011, the automotive event is taking place in the second half of May. It has been organized by the BMW Group, with the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este, for the last ten years.
Some of the vehicles attending the 2014 event include a 1908 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II, a 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith, a 1922 Hispano-Suiza H6 B, a 1923 Duesenberg A Straight 8, a 1929 Packard 640 Custom Eight, a 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS, a 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500K, a 1936 Lancia Astura Type 233, a 1937 Bugatti Type 57, a 1937 BMW 328, a 1950 Ferrari 195 Inter and others, along with a 2013 F.LLI Frigerio Berlinetta SS, the Infiniti Q30 Concept Crossover, the Giugiaro Parcour, the Volvo Concept Estate and the Maserati Alfieri.
Prizes are awarded for a range of categories as the Trofeo BMW Group Classic for the most sensitive restoration, the Trofeo Rolls-Royce for the most elegant Rolls-Royce, the Trofeo FIVA for the best preserved pre-war car, the Trofeo Automobile Club di Como for the car driven from farthest away, the Trofeo Roeckl for the best overall appearance of car, driver and passenger, the Trofeo Auto & Design for the most exciting design, the Trofeo Vranken Pommery for the most iconic car, the Trofeo Foglizzo for the best interior design or the Trofeo ASI for the best preserved post-war car. The previous 2013 event was held between the 24th and the 26th of May.
