Lamborghini has announced its plans to offer a drop-top version of its newest supercar, the Aventador SV.
If you were hoping perhaps for a competitor of the McLaren 540C / 570S or a true hybrid hypercar to aim at the P1, LaFerrari and 918 Spyder, think again, because Lamborghini is feeling that an Aventador SV Roadster is far more appropriate. The announcement has been made by Stephan Winkelmann, who has recently spoken to Top Gear, saying that the company is currently taking orders on the new supercar. Production will be limited to just 500 units so if you are interested in one, you should hurry up and place a deposit.
The Lamborghini boss hasn’t provided any additional details on this particular ride but we already know that it will be using the same 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine as the regular model and as the Aventador SV. This is capable of putting down a total of 750 HP (552 kW) and it is helping the supercar reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds. Prices for the Aventador SV stand at 493,069 USD in the U.S. and 327,190 euros on the Old Continent. However, all examples have been sold out and production was limited to just 600, with 200 for Europe, Middle East and Africa, 200 for North and South America and 200 for Asia Pacific countries. This is the spiritual successor of the Murcielago SV, the Diablo SV and the Miura SV.
