The Herbalife World Football Challenge takes place July 18 through August 11 and currently consists of 11 teams competing in nine games at eight stadiums across the U.S. and Canada.

Continental Tire announced their sponsorship of the 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge and accordingly will be designated the official tire of the event.

“Continental Tire has been a long-time supporter of the sport of soccer including FIFA World Cup Soccer and MLS, so the addition of the World Football Challenge is a great way for us to increase our presence in the marketplace,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental Tire.

According to the agreement, the German tiremaker will receive field board signage, end board signage, in-stadium media, hospitality, and category exclusivity at all the championship, which will take place across North America between 18 July and 11 August.

Germany’s Continental AG reported last month a sharp increase in 2011 profit, helped by a 17 percent growth in sales. The automotive supplier aims to increase sales by more than 5 percent in 2012 without disturbing its operating profit margin.

Continental is the world’s 4th largest tire manufacturer after Bridgestone,Michelin and Goodyear.
Continental was founded in 1871 as a rubber manufacturer, Continental-Caoutchouc und Gutta-Percha Compagnie.

After acquiring Siemens VDO, Continental has become one of the top 5 automotive suppliers in the world.
