Dacia Stops Production of Logan MCV, Logan VAN and Logan Pick-up image

Production for the Logan MCV, Logan VAN and Logan Pick-Up models manufactured at the Mioveni plant, Romania will stop by the end of 2012.

Currently the Mioveni plant manufactures six models: the Dacia Duster, Dacia Sandero, Dacia Logan, Dacia Logan MCV, Dacia Logan Van and Dacia Logan Pick-Up. By the end of this year Dacia will phase out of production the Logan MCV, Van and Pick-Up.

These models will be replaced by the Dokker and Dokker Van models, currently manufactured in Morocco. These two models are based on the Lodgy platform, but will have a lower price below EUR10,000. The Dokker will offer four engine options, the entry-level one being a 1.6-liter MPI offering 85 hp, followed by a turbocharged 1.2-liter TC3 boosting 115 hp, and two power levels of a 1.5-liter dCi unit, which offers 75 or 90 hp.

“I would like to remind you that the Dacia facility in Romania works at full capacity,” said Thomas Dubruel, manager at Renault Commercial Roumanie.

In 2011 Dacia global sales decreased 1,5% to 343,233 units compared to 2010, and in Romania sales decreased 15%. The Duster SUV accounted for 46% of global sales and in Romania the model sold three times better that the Sandero.
