The production version of the Daihatsu Copen has recently leaked out in several brochure scans, ahead of its official debut which has been scheduled for next month.
Daihatsu has introduced the Kopen Concept last year, in November, during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, announcing its intentions to bring back the model in a production version, but it seems that this variant is closer to its future customers than originally imagined, as the first leaked out images with the model have ended up on the web. The brochure scans posted below are showing the vehicle in its final production version, which will be unveiled next month but it will become available for order in 2015.
The images in question are revealing the customizable composite body with the removable thirteen “outer plates”, the front end of the car, the rear end and its cabin. It’s said that the 2016 Daihatsu Copen will get the D-Frame skeletal structure and it will get increased torsional rigidity improving the ride comfort and the handling. The power-operated roof will open or close in 20 seconds. Power will be provided by a 3-cylinder 12-valve naturally aspirated engine, with 64 HP (47 kW) and 92 Nm of torque. The unit will be connected to a 5-speed manual or to an optional CVT.
