Daihatsu has officially presented the final production version of the Copen which is based on the Kopen concept car revealed last year in Tokyo.
The model in question is coming with a customizable body as the owner can replace pretty much all the panels except for the doors and the roof. The interior components, or some of them at least, are also customizable. The cabin is coming with a push button start, with keyless entry, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, heated front seats, air conditioning, carbon fiber trim and some other tweaks which should attract some attention towards the small car.
The new Daihatsu Copen stands at 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width and 1,280 mm in height. It has a two-piece electric roof which is only adding 40 kg to the total weight of the car. Power is being provided by a small three-cylinder naturally aspirated 12-valve gasoline burner, which is producing a total output of 64 HP (47 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 92 Nm (68 lb-ft) of torque, available at 3,200 rpm. These are sent to the FWD through a 5-speed manual transmission or through a CVT. Prices for the model will start from approximately 13,000 euros.
