Daimler to invest €200 million in testing and tech center

Stuttgart-based Daimler Ag. on Friday said it would invest 200 million euros in a testing and technology center in the southern German town of Geisingen-Immendingen.

In the implementation of our technology-offensive, the new testing and technology center will make a significant contribution.
We consider the location Immendingen as another important part of our global growth strategy, ” Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, Daimler Board of Management responsible for Group Research and Development said.

The new, ultra-modern center for future automotive technologies where the German carmaker will test and develop driver assistance systems and autonomous driving technologies is expected to create about 300 new jobs Daimler says in the official statement.

In addition, Daimler says the new test center will help the company to develop and test new combustion engines.

The German luxury carmaker plans to launch 13 all-new models by the end of 2020, Audi 60 models from about 49 currently, while BMW, the largest luxury carmaker in the world will launch 25 models by 2014 – 10 that are completely new.
