DAKAR 2013: Video summary of the rally’s fifth stage
The fifth stage of the Dakar rally, linking Arequipa in Peru to Arica in Chile, was won by Nani Roma in the car category and David Casteu in the bike section.
Overall leader Stephane Peterhansel finished the stage on second place and managed to extend his lead to almost 10 minutes, while the runner-up, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah, went off course and lost precious time.
In the bike category, Casteu was followed by fellow Frenchman Olivier Pain, 1 minute and 9 seconds behind on his Yamaha. Pain retained the overall lead in the rally, with 1 minute 15 seconds ahead of Casteu. The motorcycling stage consisted of a 136-kilometer timed section, while the car stage’s timed section was 172-kilometers long.
