David Brown Automotive – authors of the exquisite Speedback GT – is looking to make a name for itself in the insanely passionate coachbuilding market by adding a second model to the roster.
The British company has recently reinvigorated the coachbuilding niche with the reveal of the Speedback GT prototype in 2014 – and at the Geneva Motor Show the company delivered the first two production examples. Now the company has made the official announcement of coming out in May with a second retro-flavored car, though other details have remained scarce. The company has used a conspicuous name for the second project… Project 2. The car will be produced after being introduced in the very near future at the company’s new 18,000 square-foot facility in Silverstone next to the Speedback GT.
It appears the new model will bring out the “best of British [motoring],” and will “blend high-quality, traditional coach building techniques and modern technologies.” Company founder David Brown ads the new project is actually not new, as it has been long in the cooking oven. “We’ve been working on Project 2 for over a year, it’s an idea that I had right at the start of Speedback GT’s story and sits beautifully alongside it. Using our core mantra of classic styling, beautiful craftsmanship and modern technology, Project 2 is a fusion of the brand’s values, with quintessential British design and craftsmanship at the heart. We’ve had a lot of fun with the new car and I can’t wait to reveal it in full.”
