The new generation of the Lexus IS has been officially presented to the public during the 2013 North American International Auto Show.
After it was teased just a day before arriving in Detroit, the new generation of the Lexus IS, which is wearing the 2014 model year in its name, is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the Japanese based automaker pulling the wraps off its body during the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. The design of the new Lexus IS generation is inspired by the LF-CC Concept, which was unveiled during the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The headlights have received a more aggressive design and L-shape LEDs, the grille is trapezoidal and the other tweaks will help it stand out from a crowd.
The 2014 Lexus IS unveiled in Detroit is equipped with the F-Sport package so the level of “aggressiveness” is highlighted even more thanks to the larger and slightly revised front grille and to the new bumper. The interior design of the new Lexus IS is offering a lot of space thanks to the longer wheelbase and to the thinner seats and the driving position is also upgraded. The steering wheel is inspired from the LFA Supercar and the dashboard is hosting the Lexus multimedia system, an analog clock and the climate controls. The carmaker didn’t provide more details on the new IS generation but we know than in Europe the model will only become available as the IS250 and IS300h. The Lexus IS is a direct rival for models like the BMW 3-Series, the Audi A4 or the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
