A minor bug in Ford’s iPad teaser app has given us an early glimpse of the all-new 2013 Ford Fusion. Acting quickly, the image has since been removed.
The key detail that the picture reveals is the Aston Martin-esque front grille, which was first shown on the Ford Evos concept, which previews all future Ford design themes, at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show.
The vehicle will arrive in U.S. dealerships later this year with a choice of four engines. The gasoline range includes a pair of EcoBoost four-cylinder gasoline units with a displacement of 1.6-liters and 2.0-liters.
In addition there are two hybrid variants, both sporting a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder that is shared with the C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid.
A new feature that helps drivers stay alert and prevent them from drifting out of a lane will come as a new on the 2013 Fision. The Lane Keeping System will use a digital camera mounted on the windshield near the rearview mirror to detect veering in lanes.
Ford says the 2013 Fusion will be the first mainstream midsize sedan in North America to offer this technology.
In Europe and Australia, it will continue to wear the Mondeo badge, while the US market will welcome it as the new Fusion.
