The final design of the Detroit Electric SP:01 has been recently revealed by the car manufacturer.
After being shown in a concept form with a roadster body style, the Detroit Electric SP:01 is being highlighted once more, this time in its final production variant, which is now shown in a coupe body style. The model in question has been optimized with computational fluid dynamics and this will ensure better performance and stability. Detroit Electric says that the model has been reshaped and now the airflow is optimized compared to the design of the one-off vehicle.
The Detroit Electric SP:01 is still based on the Lotus Exige and power will be provided by a mid-mounted electric motor, which will be generating 278 HP (207 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque, which is significantly more than what the concept was offering – 201 HP (150 kW) and 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint will be made in just 3.7 seconds and the 1,175 kg (2,590 lbs) weighing vehicle will be able to reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km). The total range of the model will be standing in at 179 miles (288 km) and this will be assembles in the UK, going on sale worldwide in 2015.
