Detroit LIVE: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8

Jeep has brought the 2014 Grand Cherokee and the 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 to the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

After it was unveiled just a day ago, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is entering our news once again, this time with the carmaker bringing it to the 2013 Detroit Motor Show in order to make its public debut. The model is actually a facelift which is getting a restyled front fascia, a modified tailgate and rear bumper and new LED taillights. The cabin has received a 5- or an 8.4-inch touch screen display, a new instrument cluster with a 7-inch color TFT, HVAC controls, new steering wheel and transmission lever. The 3.0 V6 turbo diesel is offered on the Limited, Overland and Summit along with a new 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

Besides the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler has also unveiled the high performance version, the 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8, during the same automotive event. The model is getting a different front grille, a restyled rear spoiler, LED headlights and new five-spoke alloy wheels. Power is being provided by the same 6.4 liter HEMI V8, generating 470 HP (350 kW) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, mated to the new eight-speed automatic transmission. The 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration is done quicker now, thanks to the new gearbox, and top speed stands at 160 mph (257 km/h).
