It seems these days any social media platform can do the job for a company of teasing its latest product release – Mercedes-Benz has decided to use the LinkedIn business networking platform.
And the teasing is done by a major executive at the company – more precisely the Daimler chairman, Dieter Zetsche, who talk about how the new generation a Class is something “special”, with the official worldwide introduction to come a long way from now – sometime in 2018. The images actually contain other goodies as well, because they were taken during a recent test drive that also encompassed other new models, such as the upcoming next generation CLS. Zetsche also talked about the professional strategy of the compact series, reiterating the company’s idea to expand the range to eight models up from five right now. These include an A-Class Sedan, as well as “more advanced assistance systems to pave the way into the future of autonomous driving.”
Daimler’s chief added the development work for the A Class comes after using “one of the world’s most capable climatic wind tunnels” that can mimic temperatures varying between -40 to +60 degrees Celsius (-40 to + 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and at the same time achieve wind speeds of up to 265 kph (165 mph). The tunnel near Stuttgart can even deliver tropical rainfalls and snowstorms to cheaply ensure the extreme weather testing can be performed on the spot. The all new generation of the compact will use – along with all family members – an upgraded version of the MFA architecture.
