Our weekly Friday wrap-up includes this time around a fresh digital artist depiction of the possible design of the new generation Ford Focus, which should arrive around 2018.
So far the Internet rumor mill has managed to dissect the latest spy shots with test mules of the fourth generation Ford Focus, but given the amount of camouflage on the prototypes no styling cues have been extrapolated. Instead, we do know the next installment in the series will come with updated dimensions – the Focus growing in length and width. The popular Blue Oval model – Ford claims each year it’s the best selling nameplate in the world, but Toyota comes and refutes – might get new styling cues or simply resort to using inspirational ones like in this speculative render. Here the Focus gains some Mondeo attributes, which lend it a more upscale look.
The generational change is treated to full LED lights, with the shape and size of the grille heavily influenced by the Mondeo – there are also bigger air vents to make sure sportiness is still a cue. Ford has tipped us to having a “sleek look of a coupe” in mind for the Focus and the render takes that into account with a sloping roofline. The bigger wheelbase is obvious when looking at the larger rear doors and that means easy entry and egress, as well as more legroom in the back. Expect the next generation Focus to appear sometimes next year and even reach dealerships as a 2018 model year – followed afterwards by the practical wagon and classic four-door sedan.
