Chrysler has begun production of its new 2013 Dodge Dart in Belvidere, Illinois. First Dart was a red Rallye model, with a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-four engine, six-speed manual transmission, backup camera, and sunroof.
While exact pricing specifications have not yet been offered thus far, we know that the 2013 Dart Rallye carries a starting price of $19,790 (including the destination fee) plus the cost of those upgrades listed above for a total that is likely in the low 20k range.
“I think everybody has a really personal interest in this vehicle because everyone put their heart and soul. Everybody has worked long hours and put a lot of their sweat equity into this car to make it the best that it is going to be,” says Chris Kelly, Belvidere Assembly Quality Manager.
Developed from the underlying structure of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the Dart is the first jointly engineered offspring of the marriage between Chrysler and majority owner Fiat.
The new Dart will be available with 12 exterior colors, 14 interior color and trim options, three powerful, fuel-efficient engines and three transmission choices.
The first Darts should begin arriving in dealer showrooms next month, but dealers don’t expect full inventories until at least mid-summer.
