Dongfeng and SAIC Declared Increased Sales in the First Half of 2012 image

Dongfeng sold 1.63 million units in the first six months of 2012, up 8.57% from 2011.

From January to June Dongfeng sold 1.28 million passenger cars, up 17.31% from 2011, and 347,000 commercial vehicles. Dongfeng own brand models sold 598,000 units, from which 225,600 passenger cars. The other brands, including Dongfeng Yulon Luxgen, Dongfeng Nissan Venucia and Dongfeng Honda Ciimo, sold a total of 33,900 units.

The company’s joint ventures also saw increased sales in the first half of 2012. Dongfeng Nissan sold 454,800 units, up 21.69%, Dongfeng Peugeot 208,600 units, up 7.63%, Dongfeng Honda 150,700 units, up 28.8% and Dongfeng Yueda Kia reached 221,100 units, up 16.45%. By the end of the year Dongfeng plans to sell 3.3 million units and earn 420 billion yuan ($66.64b) in total business returns this year.

Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group (SAIC) sold 2.23 million vehicles in the first half of 2012, up 11.41% compared to 2011. In June SAIC sold 328,300 vehicles, up 9.9%. Shanghai VW, Shanghai GM and SAIC-GM-Wuling were the company’s joint ventures that contributed the most to the sales total. Shanghai VW sold 636,691 units, up 10.37%, Shanghai GM 671,530 vehicles, up 9.81% and SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 750,788 units, up 15.9%.
