Dongfeng Honda Automobile started production at its second plant in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
Today, July 10th, Honda auto production and sales JV in China hold a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of production at its second facility in China. The ceremony was attended by guests, dignitaries, representatives from the local governments of Wuhan, Hubei Province and Xu Ping, CEO of Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Takanobu Ito, President & CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
This new plant in Wuhan, Hubei Province is located at about 4km northeast of the first facility. The plant features advanced environmental and production technologies, and it will achieve China’s top-level reduction in both CO2 and VOC emissions. It will reduce CO2 emissions by making the painting process shorter and by using waste heat at its painting facility, and VOC emissions will be reduced by using water based primer in the processing of plastic resin components.
The initial production capacity will be 100,000 units annually, but the company plans to expand capacity to 120,000 units in 2013 and 240,000 units in the following years. Honda plans to achieve 20% year-on-year sales increase, and to double 2011 sales units by 2015.
