The Lelystad, unhealthy pharm Netherlands-based Donkervoort Automobielen BV has rekindled our attention – and possibly our affection as well – after taking the wraps off the new, help hotter D8 GTO-RS.
This is billed as the most extreme version of the D8 ever produced and production will be capped at just 40 units. The D8 GTO-RS will be released this summer and has been inked as the ultimate D8 GTO, here being “meaner, more extreme, and slightly larger in size” than the regular model. The high-performance roadster has also decided to come up with a mild facelift, which includes a reworked radiator grille and improvements made to the overall aerodynamics. If you go for the cockpit, you’ll find the Dutch exotic manufacturer has used premium leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
More importantly, motivation comes via the Audi-sourced 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine which has on tap an optimized management system that was developed in partnership with Bosch. The company has decided to remain mysterious in terms of technical details and performance specifications and only tipped us that drivers should expect quicker acceleration and also an increased level of driving comfort. Donkervoort also added their work alongside Bosch has also yielded other results, including lap-time enhancing functions, a launch control system and a double-clutch function. The new D8 GTO-RS also packs a new suspension kit, a high-performance braking system, and a wider track for improved grip. The limited production run model will be priced from $173,826 (€151,173), with Donkervoort adding 21 units have already been spoken for.
