The Pontiac GTO seems like a particularly usable donor for building hypercar replicas, as this is not the first time we heard it served as the basis for an exotic ride.
While the Bugatti Veyron is more than a decade old now and has been refreshed with the Chiron successor, it can still count as one of the XXI century engineering marvels. But you can also take that away and simply go for the exotic looks. That’s because the real Veyron was only sold in 450 units and all were up for grabs if you had millions to spare. No worries, as less affluent fans can also dip in the pool of replicas. Some are good – some are so bad they’re awesome (to see, not to own). This one we spied on eBay is among the better reworks – though far from being flawless as well. And you might want to look twice at the price – $125,000.
This Veyron Knock-off is not coming from China, it’s located in Florida. And in fact it was a 2005 Pontiac GTO to begin with. The seller is also a bit shady in terms of mechanical details, so we’re wondering about the 400-horsepower V8 from General Motors and five-speed manual credentials. He wants us to believe it’s the same 6.0-liter LS2 and gearbox as fitted to the real GTO. If you’re willing to overlook the flaws, you’ll also get a custom sound system, motorized wing, and an adjustable air-ride front suspension.
