Former Miss USA Rima Fakih, 26, is facing charges of driving under the influence, after she was arrested on Saturday, December 3 morning in Highland Park, Michigan.
According to TMZ’s sources, Fakih had a blood alcohol level of .20, which is more than twice the legal limit.
Fakih initially tried to deny her arrest. At around 5 a.m. Sunday, she Tweeted: “Let’s clear things up now… I’m NOT in Michigan and I’m NOT in jail! Wrong Fakih.”
However, her attorney, Doraid Elder, confirmed the arrest, but offered few details.
“She is taking full responsibility,” Elder said, “She wants to apologize to everybody she let down.”
Doraid Elder said that Miss Fakih was driving her friend’s car because her companion was intoxicated.
No one was injured. It was unclear when her next court date will be. Highland Park police said questions would be answered Monday by authorities.
She won the Miss USA Pageant in May 2010. Her reign ended June 19, 2011.
