The latest generation of the Corsa supermini – the Corsa E – has been mildly updated by the engineers in Russelsheim, which have decided to play the technology card and deliver new goodies.
The Corsa is now available with the same R4.0 IntelliLink infotainment system as seen in the larger Astra compact hatchback – for an extra 350 euros in Germany, a wroth while addition to the subcompact since initial reports say the new infotainment system is very well made. For the money you get a range of extended functionalities – also allowing devices sporting at least Android 5.0 Lollipop and iOS 7.1 to make use of the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. That means you’ll get the 7 inch touchscreen display to play as if it was an extension of your smartphone – mirroring important apps such as Google and Apple Maps or WhatsApp and Skype. Additionally, if you pay 490 euros you can get the Opel Corsa E to morph into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.
For those not wanting to be troubled with the range of functions the high-tech world of today has to offer – which, let’s face it, are quite a lot – Opel has you covered as well. Satellite navigation will still be available for you thanks to the TomTom GO 40 which uses a 4.3-inch screen and looks easy to integrate with the car’s dashboard.
