Essen Motor Show: AC Schnitzer goes to show with 1 Series and X6 image

The BMW-specialized tuner has decided that massive upgrades are in order for the Essen event, delivering programs for two of the extremities of the Bavarian marquee’s lineup.

First off we have the Frankenstein-like BMW 1 Series which has been resurrected by AC Schnitzer through the use of the M550d tri-turbo engine. You might remember we recently told you about a BBM Motorsport’s BMW 3-Series that underwent the same procedure – but that was easier to accomplish since they only went down one Series in the process. And now AC has decided to fit the monstrous engine to the 1 Series body and also delivered a mild upgrade in the process – lifting power from 381 PS (280 kW) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) to 400 PS (294 kW) and a mind-blowing 800 Nm (591 lb-ft) of torque. The “BMW 150d” by AC Schnitzer will do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 4.5 seconds and go from 50-112 mph (80-180 km/h) in just 7.9 seconds.

Next up is the largest SUV on offer – the X6, which has arrived in Essen sporting the Falcon upgrade program. The Bavarian SAV has received an aerodynamic body kit coming with a new front skirt, rear diffuser, carbon side mirror caps, carbon rear wing, and rear skirt insert. We also saw some dual air vents and alloy wheels from 20 to 22 inches with nice finishes such as matte anthracite and bi-color. There’s also an optional suspension lowering kit for 15-20 mm height loss and inside the X6 Falcon gets an aluminum pedal set with foot rest, unique floor mats, and a special key holder. The program also mildly touches all the engine options – with figures ranging between 309 PS for the 30d and 650 PS for the X6M.
