Euro NCAP has awarded the new Lexus IS 300h with a maximum 5-star safety rating after the latest crash tested conducted by the safety specialists.
According to Euro NCAP, the Lexus IS 300h managed a 91 percent safety in Adult Occupant, 85 percent in Child Occupant protection, 80 percent in Pedestrian Safety and 66 percent in the Safety Assist. The passenger compartment of the Lexus IS 300h remain stable in the frontal impact and the dummy readings indicated good protection for the knees and femur. In the side pole test, the chest protection was adequate and in other body regions was good. The seat and head restraint provided good protection in event of a rear-end collision.
In the child occupant test, the dummy readings indicated maximum protection for both the 18 month and 3 year infants. In the side impact, both dummies were properly contained by the protective shells of the restraints. The new Lexus IS 300h has an active bonnet, which is providing additional head protection for struck pedestrians, and this means that in the Pedestrian Safety, the car scored good points. ESC is also standard on the model and this means that the car is meeting Euro NCA’s test requirements. The model tested was a Lexus IS 300h 2.5 Hybrid Drive, in the Executive Plus trim.
