Euro NCAP: Opel / Vauxhall Astra GTC gets five star rating image

The German / British based automaker Opel / Vauxhall has proven once again that the new Astra GTC generation isn’t just nice to look at or fun to drive compared to previous models and managed to score an almost perfect five-star rating at the latest Euro NCAP testing.

According to the specialists at Euro NCAP, the new generation of the Astra GTC is offering good protection for the knees and femurs for both the driver and front passenger in front impacts, but it’s losing some points in the side impacts with the dummies recording some rib compression. The new Astra is offering good protection for the rear-end collisions too.

“We are proud of the latest five-star results. Passenger safety has always been high on our agenda, and we are not only to have met the safety standards with Astra GTC and Zafira Tourer, but to have surpassed them”, said the Opel / Vauxhall vice president of engineering, Rita Forst

The safety specialists at Euro NCAP have also recorded good protection for the 18 month old infant and the 3 year old child, with the Astra GTC rating 79 percent. The vehicle has been awarded extra for disabling the passenger airbag which can allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position.
