Ford has released a new set of images with the Euro-spec version of the Edge, which will debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The European version of the Ford Edge is inches away from being officially presented to the public at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and the model is being placed into the spotlights these days with the help of a small photo gallery. The model in question is the first one of five brand new SUVs and crossovers which will be launched on the Old Continent over the next three years as Ford is looking to double its sales by the end of 2016 compared to 2013.
The new Ford Edge will be offered in standard with the company’s Intelligent all-wheel drive technology which is measuring how its wheels are gripping the road surface every 16 milliseconds. This is going to deliver a seamless transmission between the front-wheel drive and the all-wheel drive. The popular SUV will be offered, on the Old Continent, with a choice of two engines. Both of them are having a 2.0 liter in displacement and the first one is going to produce 178 HP (131 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, connected to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the second one will be delivering 207 HP (152 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, getting a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The first units of the Ford Edge will be arriving in European dealerships in early 2016. More details on it will be announced during the German automotive event.
