Europe: Ford to increase Fiesta ST’s production to keep up with high demand image

The North American based automaker Ford has recently announced the production increase of the Fiesta ST in Europe in order to keep up with the high demand.

Ford Motor Company has announced the production increase for the new Fiesta ST, after Europeans have ordered twice as many units as expected over the first six months of sale. Almost 10,000 orders for the new hot hatch have been received since it went on sale in March and out of these, 3,000 orders are coming from the United Kingdom.

“The customer and critical reaction to the Fiesta ST has been extraordinary – it’s really become an instant classic and orders have been extremely strong. We are doing what we can to increase production and try to meet demand”, said the Ford of Europe Sales and Service marketing vice Roelant de Waard.

As a quick reminder, the Ford Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine, which is producing a total output of 180 HP (132 kW) and it has a peak torque of 240 Nm (177 lb-ft). The unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in the B-segment hot hatch takes 6.9 seconds and top speed stands at 220 km/h (137 mph).
