After the good news from France that came earlier today, now car manufacturers’ association Anfac said that in Spain new car sales rose 7.6 % in January.
Although the percentage number is significantly better than that registered in France, Spain’s car market is also smaller than of their neighbor – which saw its sales up 0.5% to 125,477 cars.
Spain’s car manufacturers’ association Anfac said that January numbers were 53,436 cars, registering the fifth consecutive monthly increase as government subsidies spur buyers.
The government subsidy known as PIVE, which has been extended four times triggered in January the fifth consecutive monthly increase. Under the government subsidy program, buyers of new cars who scrap an older car receive a 2,000-euro rebate, half from the state and half from the car dealer.
