Volkswagen has opened the order books for the brand new Golf 7 GTI in Europe.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI, in its new generation, is one of the most interesting models, if not The most interesting one, in its segment. The hot hatch is riding on the MQB platform, the same one used by Volkswagen on other models, including the new Audi A3 generation, or the 2013 Seat Leon. The Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI is now available for order across the Old Continent, where its future customers will have to pay just over 28,000 euros before they will be able to drive it home.
The 2014 VW Golf GTI is coming with a lowered sport chassis, a new body kit, wider side sills, a diffuser, 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45 tires, sports seats, new steering wheel, new pedals and more. Power to the model is being provided by a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine, which is good for 220 HP (162 kW) in standard and 230 HP in the GTI Performance variant. Both versions have a peak torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft), enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint of 6.5 and 6.4 seconds respectively, with top speed of 246 km/h (153 mph) and 250 km/h (155 mph). The engine is mated to a six-speed manual ro a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
