The refreshed fully electric version of the Focus for Europe has been treated to the same array of enhancements as its American counterpart – including a new batter and better range.
Ford has decided to release the enhanced European version of the Focus Electric EV, bringing to the old continent the new liquid-cooled 33.5-kilowatthour battery pack as seen inside the US-spec model. Now, surging from the older 23-kWh battery, the estimated range of the Focus Electric has jumped by 63 kilometers (39 miles) to a total of 225 km (140 miles). It also comes with a DC fast-charge system that can refill 80 percent of the battery in 30 minutes. Then there’s the Brake Coach technology that shows drivers how to max the energy capturing process through the regenerative braking system.
The rest of the powertrain remains the same – electric engine good for 145 horsepower (107 kilowatts), good for a sprint to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in 11.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 137 km/h (85 mph). The interior now uses the SYNC 3 infotainment system with voice commands, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a capacitive touchscreen display. Standard features also include dual-zone automatic climate control, 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, LED taillights. Best of all, in Germany the price has remained the same – starting from €34,900.
